“Say yes to that thing. Work with a mentor, stop minimizing what you are good at, and throw yourself into it with no apologies. You are good at something for a reason. God designed you this way on purpose.” -Jen Hatmaker

About Mentoring

We all have our unique processes with our art and life and they are all ever-changing. I want to walk alongside you making your creative and business endeavors come to life. Sometimes it takes someone sitting beside you, seeing you, and helping you to see something deep inside you and urge that out of you. Let me guide you in finding your own aesthetic and creative voice so you can create the work you’ve been dreaming of.

My mentor sessions are a one-on-one experience, whether in person or through a Zoom call, covering everything from feeling more grounded in your artistic voice, making work with purpose that is genuine to you, to technical aspects like shooting in manual mode, finding your own approach to light, website, pricing, post-processing, and can and hopefully include a styled shoot that we will photograph together. I offer a variety of different packages to meet you where you are at in your process and will suit your needs and those are outlined below. Mentor sessions will be priced according to where we meet also, these sessions are priced to take place in Orange County where I’m based but feel free to inquire about travel dates/investment if you’d like to talk about me coming to you.

Here are some basic structures to choose from below, reach out if you want to talk more. -xx

  • FULL DAY 6 HOUR MENTORSHIPS

These are a personal favorite! The One-On-One Mentor Sessions are in-person and interactive and you will leave with fresh new content for your portfolio.

For photographers who already have their own business running I like to shape these together to personalize the way we spend our time so you get what you need out of our time together. We’ll meet up and go over any and all questions you may have about finding your way as an artist, how to express yourself creatively and my process and approach to running my business. I like to intentionally explore how to find your own unique point of view, create meaningful work, and go over all these topics that help execute a successful shoot. We can cover any of the following.

    —defining your style

    —booking your ideal client

    —portfolio review

    —editing/workflow

    —LR/post processing

    —approaching light in any situation

—directing your subject gently and positively

    —goal setting

    —pricing

    —instagram/social media

    —collaborating/cultivating your community

After the Q&A portion, we will do a styled shoot together that I organize with a real couple, family, mother & kid(s), model, etc. (All dependent on what type of photography you're interested in/want to learn more about.) You'll observe while I get to know the subject prior to shooting & get them comfortable, go through my process of finding light, and how I approach a shoot. You'll watch me shoot and direct the subject, while asking any questions. I'll give you my feedback/answer any questions during the process. We answer your questions and talk about your own portfolio. Then we set up an indoor or outdoor shoot depending on what you want to focus on so you can see how I go about family sessions and review our session after.

Afterwards, we'll grab dinner and chat about the shoot as a whole, review your photographs and do a critique, and edit your photographs using LR + your presets! I've had mentees in the past have questions come up or topics they need help working out after our meeting together and I welcome those follow up questions as they come. I’m here to answer all of your questions about finding your unique perspective, create meaningful imagery full of connection, running a business, and creating and executing a successful shoot.
